BBQ turkey meatloaf

Total time: 1 hour 10 mins + standing
Prep time: 20 mins
Bake: 50 mins + standing

Ingredients:

Yield: 2 loaves

    • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
    • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
    • 1/3 cup milk
    • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 tsp prepared mustard
    • 1 1/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 2 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tsp rubbed sage
    • 2 lbs lean ground turkey
    • 1 lb Italian turkey sausage links, casings removed

Topping:

    • 1 cup BBQ sauce
    • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    • 2 tsp prepared mustard

Directions:

    1. Combine first ten ingredients in a large bowl. Crumble ground turkey and sausage over mixture; mix well.
    2. Pat into two greased 9 X 5 inch loaf pans.
    3. Combine topping ingredients in a small bowl; spread over tops.
    4. Cover and freeze one loaf for up to 3 months.* Bake remaining loaf, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes until no pink remains and a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees. Let stand 10 minutes before slicing.

To use frozen meatloaf: Bake as directed, increasing time to 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hours.
