oven roasted beef brisket

Bake: 3 1/4 hours

Ingredients:

Yield: 8 servings

    • 2 Tbsp chili powder
    • 1 Tbsp sugar
    • 1 Tbsp onion powder
    • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
    • 1 Tbsp pepper
    • 2 tsp ground mustard
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 fresh beef brisket (4 lbs), halved
    • 1 Tbsp canola oil
    • 1 1/2 cup beef broth
    • 1 bay leaf

Directions:

    1. Combine first seven ingredients; rub over brisket.
    2. Brown meat in oil in batches in an ovenproof Dutch oven.
    3. Add broth and bay leaf; bring to a boil.
    4. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 3 1/4 - 3 3/4 hours or until meat is tender. Remove brisket to a serving platter.
    5. Skim fat from cooking juices; discard bay leaf.
    6. Thinly slice meat across the grain. Serving with cooking juices.
